Spring Finale vs. Seattle

Got Their Work In

Jhoulys Chacin

4 IP, 5 ER, 8 K, 2 BB, K

A bleh spring ends with a short, but hidious outing against one of baseball's softest regular lineups. It sounded again like he struggled with his fastball command and found himself behind in counts, which will cost you against anybody and everybody. Fastball command is essential, and unfortunately it seems to be the thing Chacin struggles most to be consistent with. We just need to cross our fingers and hope he can find it more times than not when it counts.

He usually does, but this team really, really can't afford more than 3-4 completely ineffective outings from him.

Alex White

2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, BB, K

The good news is the Rockies will be moving Alex White back into a starting role. The bad news is it'll be happening at Colorado Springs.

Granted, they have added a humidor to the mix down there, which should help, but as The Gazette explains, it's still a long ways from a pitching paradise.

Wilin Rosario

The only Rockie with a multi-hit game, Rosario raised his spring average to .418 with a pair of doubles. He may relegate Ramon Hernandez into a very well paid backup sooner than we think.
